For Joe Biden’s White House, it’s been a long, hot summer of polling doldrums. It hasn’t matter whether the pollster sits more on the right like Rasmussen or Tralfagar, or it’s the New York Times or a left-wing partisan outfit like Public Policy Polling. All polls have shown the same thing: Americans are deeply unhappy with Joe Biden, and their feelings are hardening.
The causes for Biden’s unpopularity are numerous. The latest Consumer Price Index inflation report hit 9.1% annualized, which is the hottest number recorded in 40 years. After Biden disastrously pulled Americans out of Afghanistan, abandoning American citizens and our allies, he embroiled the country in a proxy economic war with Russia through Ukraine. The results of which have cratered economic growth.
This week, Biden has traveled to the Middle East, requesting more oil from Saudi Arabia and OPEC. Biden presents the profile of an American President begging for more oil because he refuses to make the United States and North America an energy powerhouse.
We’re beyond the malaise of Jimmy Carter years. We’re 18 months into an administration where Democrats are now openly championing someone else in 2024. We’re experiencing one of the worst Presidencies in United States history, with one of the vainest humans ever to inhabit the office.
New York Times sends a warning shot to Biden.
A case in point is two polls from the last week. First up, The New York Times conducted a poll with Siena College Research Institute. The New York Times is an “A” grade pollster in the FiveThirtyEight composite of polling, with high accuracy. It was a devastating poll for Joe Biden.
The New York Times reported that only 33% of respondents approved of Joe Biden’s job performance. A whopping 60% of respondents disapproved of how he’s handling his job. Only 13% of respondents strongly believed Biden was doing a good job. Similarly, 13% thought the country was on the right track.
A shockingly small 29% of Democrats wanted Biden to run again in 2024. The only thing Democrats are hanging their hat on is that Biden was ahead of Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 matchup by three points. That shouldn’t raise optimism, though. If Joe Biden only has a three-point lead in national polls with 33% approval rates, odds are he loses to any Republican in 2024.
Fox News shows a plummeting Biden.
Biden got slightly higher approval numbers from Fox News. 40% of respondents approved of Biden’s job performance. However, Fox found similar disapproval numbers to the New York Times, finding that 59% of respondents disapproved of Biden’s job performance. Like the New York Times, the Fox News numbers were the lowest approval rates they’ve measured for Biden.
Additionally, 73% of the Fox News poll respondents disapproved of how Biden handles inflation. Another 68% disproved the way he is managing the economy. Finally, 70% of respondents said they’ve had to cut back some spending because of inflation.
Typically, it’s worth ignoring the noise of individual polls and focusing on what poll averages tell us. But the New York Times and Fox News both run two of the more reputable polls. And these numbers are abysmal for Joe Biden and Democrats. What’s more concerning for Democrats is that 18 months into this Presidency, there’s no evidence this White House can stop the bleeding.
No plan Biden.
It’s an administration without a plan. One of the more concerning stories now involves WNBA star, Britanny Griner. She’s being held in Russian prison over drug charges. She was apprehended at the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and has been used as a political pawn between the United States and Russia.
American citizens should never get held to the kangaroo court standards of Russian jurisprudence. But there should be no expectations of the Biden administration here. This White House blew off American citizens who were abandoned in Afghanistan and has done nothing to save our allies in that country who aided us for two decades. If Biden comes to Griner’s aid, it’d be a first for this administration.
That story is a microcosm of the more significant issue for the Biden White House. They fundamentally do not care about the problems facing everyday Americans. There’s little evidence they care about Americans, period. This President has blamed everyone for every issue facing the country except himself. There’s no accountability, only the vanity of Joe Biden.
The top pollsters in America reflect that Americans see this about the White House. The polling averages tell a similar story, whether FiveThirtyEight or RealClearPolitics. This is a Presidency adrift at a moment of crisis for America. The vanity of Joe Biden is preventing any course correction.
Biden is on pace to sink below the lowest levels of Trump. He can collapse below the number that George W. Bush hit during the peak of the 2008 recession. Biden has no one to blame but himself. It’s his fault he’s failed every test the Presidency has thrown him.
