Nearly 2,200 people have been shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during 2021 in the city led by Democratic Mayor Jim Kenney.
The disturbing ABC 6 report revealed 473 of those shot had been killed as a result of out-of-control gun violence overtaking the city.

Blue city violence
The disturbing trend has not been limited to Philadelphia. ABC News noted that 12 other cities have shattered homicide records over the course of 2021.
All 12 cities, unsurprisingly, are led by Democratic mayors.
Philadelphia’s homicide totals ranked the highest of the 12 cities, with more than New York City and Los Angeles, the nation’s two largest cities, according to the report.
Chicago, however, remains the nation’s top city for homicides. The city is also led by a Democratic mayor, Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Every Day
The disturbing numbers in Philadelphia are highlighted as new shooting crimes are reported almost every day. Last week, “A young man trying to sell his car in West Philadelphia was gunned down in a triple shooting that left two dead and a 3-year-old injured.”

On Monday night, two men were shot and killed outside of a club in the city, adding to the already record-setting totals.
The city faces tough challenges in responding to the growing violence. Despite some Democrats pushing for an agenda to defund the police, growing crime shows the need to grow tougher in response to shootings, not weaker.
The shooting numbers will also certainly be a factor in the 2022 elections in Pennsylvania, and nationwide, as public safety increasingly becomes a concern — and a kitchen table issue — in cities led by Democrats.
