As Democrats prepare for a televised spectacle on the Capitol “insurrection,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is showering Liz Cheney (R-WY) with praise for her cooperation with the show trial.
Journalist Kyle Cheney (no relation to Liz Cheney) tweeted that Pelosi responded, “Excellently,” when asked how Cheney is doing as vice chair of the sham Jan. 6 committee, Breitbart reported.
Pelosi praises Cheney
As one of two token Republicans on Pelosi’s committee, the other being Adam Kinzinger (IL), Cheney has helped legitimize a lawless partisan witch hunt with the clear goal of painting Republicans as domestic terrorists.
Pelosi’s committee has issued sweeping, intrusive subpoenas to people accused of no criminal wrongdoing, including the organizers of a lawful rally protesting the 2020 election. The committee has gone after Republican lawmakers, in an unprecedented effort to intimidate fellow members of Congress.
Many on the left have called for Republican lawmakers to be thrown in prison, and Pelosi’s committee, working with Joe Biden’s corrupt justice department, has put allies of Trump, like Peter Navarro, in shackles for refusing to cooperate with the witch hunt.
But Cheney hasn’t been fazed by any of this, it seems.
She will join Democrats Thursday in a televised, melodramatic show trial complete with “made for television moments” and a “carefully choreographed rollout of revelations” meant to sway public opinion before midterm elections Democrats are expected to lose, the New York Times reported.
Will Cheney’s virtue signaling end her career?
It isn’t just Democrats who are in trouble. Cheney’s role in Pelosi’s propaganda campaign has alienated many conservatives, and it appears Cheney’s career may now be in jeopardy.
Cheney’s obstinate virtue signaling already cost her a position in party leadership last year, and she is trailing a Trump-backed opponent, Harriet Hageman, by 30 points ahead of a rapidly approaching primary contest in August.
Trump held a rally for Hageman in May, where he denounced Cheney as a “backstabbing RINO,” a “lapdog for Pelosi” and “a human soundbite machine for CNN and MSDNC.” Brutal.
Does Cheney not realize that Pelosi would throw her under the bus the moment she ceased to be useful to the Democratic party?
Either Cheney is a useful idiot, or she is a willing participant in Pelosi’s un-American political repression.
