Alleged attacker of Nancy Pelosi’s husband charged with attempted murder

Fox News reported that a man has been charged with attempted murder following a brutal attack on the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Speaker is “grateful for the quick response of law enforcement”

David DePape is alleged to have bludgeoned Paul Pelosi with a hammer on Friday evening, leaving the 82-year-old with a fractured skull.

For her part, the House speaker released a statement on Friday which read, “Yesterday morning, a violent man broke into our family home, demanded to confront me and brutally attacked my husband Paul.”

“Our children, our grandchildren and I are heartbroken and traumatized by the life-threatening attack on our Pop. We are grateful for the quick response of law enforcement and emergency services, and for the life-saving medical care he is receiving,” she continued.

“Please know that the outpouring of prayers and warm wishes from so many in the Congress is a comfort to our family and is helping Paul make progress with his recovery. His condition continues to improve.”

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that President Joe Biden addressed the attack during a speech in Philadelphia on Friday.

“Enough is enough is enough,” the president was quoted as saying. “Every person of good conscience needs to clearly and unambiguously stand up against the violence in our politics, regardless of what your politics are.”

Alleged attacker had left-wing flags outside of his home

Yet as an article published by the Daily Mail pointed out, it remains unclear what, if any, role politics played in Pelosi’s assault.

His alleged attacker was previously in a relationship with pro-nudity activist and convicted child sex offender Oxane ‘Gypsy’ Taub.

Taub, who previously protested naked on the steps of San Francisco City Hall, went to jail in 2021 for stalking and sexually harassing a 14-year-old boy.

The Daily Mail noted that although DePape has been portrayed as a “far-right conspiracy theorist,” neighbors told the paper that he and Taub hung Black Live Matter and gay pride flags outside of their home.

The couple are also said to have been notorious for going on days-long drug benders as well as selling drugs in the neighborhood and purchasing sex dolls for Taub’s children.
