As the midterm elections draw closer, Republican voters still upset over the 2020 election are fired up and ready for payback.
A new poll from the University of Massachusetts finds that nearly 70% of GOP voters want to see President Biden impeached, the Blaze reported.
Impeach him, they say
According to the poll, 68% of Republicans and Trump voters want Biden to be impeached, and 53% think he will be if the GOP flips the House.
A sizeable 34% of all voters think he should be impeached, and 44% of voters think Biden will be impeached if Republicans gain control.
The UMass poll is just the latest to show that Republican enthusiasm is surging ahead of the coming midterms, with millions of Americans on the right eager to exact revenge against Biden and the radical left at the ballot box.
Many on the right reject Biden’s legitimacy nearly two years after the 2020 contest, which saw Biden squeak into power with the help of mass censorship and, in the view of many, widespread ballot fraud.
But many on the right have been encouraged by Biden’s slide in popularity, particularly with moderates, Hispanics, young voters, and other key groups that formed his shaky 2020 coalition.
Republicans fired up
In more bad news for Biden, the poll found that the economy is the top concern of voters, despite Biden’s feeble attempts to spin the worst inflation in decades as some kind of success — while foreign policy barely rates, even as Biden sends $40 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Many on the right are steamed over Biden’s neglectful treatment of the homeland as countless illegal immigrants pour across a wide-open southern border.
Seventy-nine percent of Republicans say they are excited to vote, versus 73% of Democrats, according to the poll. Republicans lead with independents by double digits, although Democrats have a slight six-point advantage in a generic ballot for the House.
Looking beyond the midterms, Biden is the first choice to run in 2024 among just 33% of Democratic primary voters, compared to 55% of Republicans who say Donald Trump is their first choice.
It will be very difficult for Biden to turn this situation around between now and November. The biggest question now is, will Republicans promising to hold Biden accountable follow through on their rhetoric?
