Music fans were saddened this week after Variety magazine reported that A&M Records co-founder Jerry Moss had died this week.
According to the magazine, Moss passed away on Wednesday in Los Angeles. His cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Moss' family released a statement to the Associated Press which read, "They truly don’t make them like him anymore and we will miss conversations with him about everything under the sun."
"The twinkle in his eyes as he approached every moment ready for the next adventure," Moss' family went on to recall.
Tributes to Moss quickly appeared online, including from veteran music publicist Eric Alper, who tweeted, "Farewell to a Music Legend."
"Jerry Moss, co-founder of A&M Records, has left an indelible mark on the world of music. His visionary spirit paved the way for countless artists to shine," Alper stressed.

Musician Yusuf Islam (previously known as Cat Stevens) spoke up as well, calling Moss "an honest man" who "was a great patron of musical talent."
"It was at his Malibu house I re-connected with God, out there in the Ocean," Islam recalled before adding, "May he rest in peace."

In addition to praising Moss' musical accomplishments, some observers also pointed to the record label co-founder's love for horses.
The Breeders Cup World Championships of Thoroughbred Racing tweeted, "Today we remember the legacy of Jerry Moss, who died Aug. 16 at age 88."
"His sportsmanship campaigning the great Zenyatta gave us some of our fondest memories, including her incredible win over the males in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). Our thoughts are with his family and friends," the organization added.
