Alleged Antifa member charged with hate crime for attacking Trump supporter: Report

A man who is alleged to have ties to Antifa is in custody for assaulting a Donald Trump supporter in San Francisco this weekend, the Washington Examiner reports.

Adroa Anderson, whose name was spelled “Adora” by some outlets, was charged with a hate crime after he attacked Philip Anderson, a Black man who organized a free speech rally.

Philip Anderson, who first connected his attacker to the far-left group and said he was targeted for “no reason,” shared graphic images of his bloodied face on Twitter, according to San Francisco CBS affiliate KPIX.

Philip Anderson organized the protest Saturday to make a statement against Twitter censorship, but the event was quickly disrupted when “several hundred” counter-protesters showed up and overwhelmed the smaller group of free speech activists gathered downtown, KPIX reported.

Rioters “began throwing glass bottles, plastic bottles filled with an unknown liquid, metal cans, and eggs at free speech rally participants and law enforcement personnel,” according to a statement from San Francisco police.

The police’s statement continued: “Opposing demonstrators rushed the established barricade line in an attempt to knock it over thereby putting the safety of participants and officers at risk. One free speech rally participant was assaulted during the incident. The rally became so violent in nature it was declared a public safety hazard and was shut down.”

The next day, 35-year-old Adroa Anderson was arrested for punching Philip Anderson (seemingly no relation) in the face, causing him to lose two teeth. “Video and audio evidence indicate that a racial obscenity, consistent with the victim’s ethnicity, was said by the suspect during the assault,” police said. Adroa Anderson was charged with mayhem and hate crime enhancement.

Investigation ongoing

Three cops were also attacked with pepper spray and caustic chemicals, including one who was hospitalized, and several civilians were injured, police said. A number of Trump supporters told the media they were assaulted, as well.

“All dressed in black, I think he might be Black Lives Matter [activist], hit me in the back of the head, knocked me down. I got up. The security guards ran him off and they told us to go over here,” Derrick Main, a Trump supporter from San Rafael, told KPIX.

Despite Antifa’s violent activity, Biden has dismissed the group as “an idea,” as Philip Anderson pointed out, also noting the irony that left-wing activists who claim to support Black lives attacked him.

“Joe Biden, do you still think that Antifa is ‘just an idea’?” Philip Anderson tweeted, according to the Examiner.
