AOC misses deadline to disclose her finances

Outspoken socialist Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has ignored ethics rules requiring her to disclose her finances in a timely manner.

A spokesperson for AOC admitted that the lawmaker has not yet filed her financial disclosure for 2021, the Washington Examiner reported.

AOC misses key deadline

AOC has a 30-day grace period to file the disclosure, after which she is liable for a $200 fine, her office pointed out.

“The committee provides a 30-day grace period before fines are levied. The congresswoman plans to file before the period expires,” Ocasio-Cortez communications director Lauren Hitt told the Washington Examiner.

AOC is one of a handful of lawmakers who have yet to file their disclosures, including freshman anti-Trump Republican Peter Meijer (MI), of the Meijer supermarket dynasty, who lost a recent primary.

AOC’s reluctance to share her financials with taxpayers is interesting, given her public posturing as a righteous campaigner against plutocracy. But such hypocrisy is par for the course with AOC and her socialist progressive allies.

Rashida Tlaib (MI) collected thousands in rent payments during the COVID pandemic despite campaigning for rent cancellation, while Ilhan Omar (MN) controversially hired her husband’s political consulting firm to work for her re-election campaign in 2020.

Socialist AOC

AOC’s financial indiscretion comes as her party’s leader, Joe Biden, takes the brazen and likely illegal step of unilaterally wiping away $10,000 in student loan debt for borrowers making less than $125,000 per year.

The blatant act of political patronage seems targeted to the demographic that backs AOC: liberal college grads with gender studies degrees, no useful skills, and loads of student debt. AOC, who draws a salary of $174,000, could be left out of the windfall.

According to her most recent financial disclosure, AOC has up to $50,000 in outstanding student loan debt and a net worth between $3,000 and $45,000, low for a member of Congress, especially one with her notoriety.

Biden’s wealth transfer is nevertheless a political victory for AOC, whose brainchild the Green New Deal was recently signed into law as the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

AOC can’t file her paperwork on time, but she wants to reorganize American society? The stuff just writes itself.
