President Joe Biden has used all kinds of lame excuses for the southern border crisis, preposterously blaming it on former President Donald Trump and insisting that the surge is “seasonal.” But the numbers don’t lie.
Illegal immigration has gotten progressively worse since March, Breitbart reports, with border crossings in July more than quadrupling the number seen during the same month last summer, when Trump was still president.
Biden’s narrative destroyed
While illegal immigration usually tapers off in the summer, Biden’s radical policies have incentivized a flood of migrants to pour in unremittingly, with almost 200,000 migrants apprehended in July, an increase of 12% from June, according to Breitbart.
The July number is also the highest in 21 years, and a 418% increase over July 2020, Breitbart noted.
Immediately upon entering office, Biden canceled Trump’s famed border wall and ordered immigration authorities to dramatically curtail deportations.
Shortly after that, border crossings exceeded 100,000 for the first time since May 2019, the peak of illegal immigration under Trump, and the numbers have only continued to rise.
Border disaster spirals out of control
The president, for his part, has refused to take responsibility for the consequences of his decisions, implausibly blaming Trump — whose strict policies Biden has dismantled — and so-called “root causes” in Latin America while simultaneously denying that a crisis exists at all.
But as Biden seeks to spin destabilizing levels of unvetted, unlawful migration as a success, Department of Homeland Security boss Alejandro Mayorkas has privately acknowledged that a disaster is unfolding, reportedly telling border agents in a leaked recording that the crisis is “unsustainable.”
“A couple of days ago I was down in Mexico, and I said, ‘Look, you know, if, if our borders are the first line of defense, we’re going to lose and this is unsustainable,’” Mayorkas said, according to the New York Post. “We can’t continue like this, our people in the field can’t continue and our system isn’t built for it.”
Gee, why hasn’t CNN spent more time on this topic?
