Arizona AG steps in, orders largest county to hold election records for investigation

Arizona’s Republican attorney general has asked Maricopa County to hold on to all of its records for a potential investigation of how officials handled the 2020 election, the Washington Examiner reports.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) said a controversial audit that was recently completed raised serious questions about how the 2020 contest was administered.

AG to investigate

The Maricopa County audit was mocked and dismissed by Democrats and their mainstream media allies as a partisan attempt to sow doubts about Biden’s legitimacy with the so-called “Big Lie.”

Cyber Ninjas, the audit team that was disparaged by the left as inexperienced, released a report which said that Biden narrowly carried the race, prompting a fresh outpouring of contempt from the liberal media.

But Brnovich signaled that there was more work to be done after Senate president Karen Fann highlighted evidence from the Cyber Ninjas report that Maricopa County handled the election in a substandard fashion.

“The Arizona Senate’s report that was released on Friday raises some serious questions regarding the 2020 election,” Brnovich said in a statement.

“Arizonans can be assured our office will conduct a thorough review of the information we receive.”

Dems dismiss audit

Brnovich sent a letter to Maricopa officials asking them to preserve all relevant records for his office to review and warning of possible litigation.

Separately, Brnovich asked the Arizona Senate for copies of their unredacted reports and requested meetings with the contractors who performed the audit.

Maricopa County was consistently hostile to the audit, which they said was illegitimate and unnecessary after their own audits found no problems. But Fann said the Cyber Ninja report brought problems with cybersecurity and signature matching to light that must be resolved before future elections.

Brnovich said he would “take all necessary actions that are supported by the evidence and where I have legal authority” and emphasized that “Arizonans deserve to have their votes accurately counted and protected.”

While the media is eager to close the book on the 2020 election, millions of Americans remain doubtful that the contest was truly fair. They have legitimate concerns that can’t be simply dismissed out of partisan interest. America must have fair elections, or we don’t have a sovereign country any longer.
