It’s been a full week since the New York Post first revealed that it was given access to a laptop hard drive that was allegedly left by Hunter Biden at a Delaware computer repair shop. In addition to photos of the former vice president’s son that didn’t exactly paint him in a positive light, the hard drive was also said to contain emails that the Post alleged provide evidence of corrupt business dealings involving the Bidens.
Now, a new report from Breitbart is only adding fuel to that fire. Writing Tuesday, Breitbart’s Peter Schweizer and Seamus Bruner highlighted emails that, in their eyes, prove that business associates of Hunter Biden viewed their relationship with the then-vice president’s son “as a form of ‘currency.'”
The Post’s bombshell report
It was last Wednesday that the New York Post first cited emails obtained from the hard drive to report that “Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before the elder Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company.”
According to the Post, Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the energy firm Burisma Holdings, thanked Hunter Biden in an email “for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure,” Pozharskyi wrote.
Now, at least according to Bruner and Schweizer, it’s become clear that other associates of the younger Biden were also grateful to have connections to the White House.
Breitbart doubles down
The Breitbart journalists said Tuesday that “Hunter Biden’s business associates spoke candidly in emails about Hunter Biden’s role in the business, particularly as it related to foreign ventures.” In addition to “viewing the Biden name as a form of ‘currency,'” the journalists wrote, associates of Hunter Biden had reportedly boasted about having a “direct…pipeline” to the Barack Obama administration.
Those associates included Jason Galanis, who sent a message to Hunter Biden’s longtime colleague and friend Devon Archer in November 2014 that indicated he wanted to use “other currency” — namely, “a direct administration pipeline” — to help boost an upcoming pitch to potential investors.
“I wanted to focus on the ‘other currency’ we are bringing to the table,” Galanis wrote, according to Breitbart. “[M]aybe we should also remind of HB’s dad’s union relationships to justify the ask??”
In an earlier email, Archer, who once served on the board of Burisma along with Hunter Biden, pointed to “the Biden lift” as a perk of mentioning a Hunter Biden-controlled firm in a separate proposal, and Archer even once expressed a desire “to leverage Hunter more,” Breitbart reported.
Trouble for the Biden camp
It all comes at a critical time in the campaign season for Joe Biden, whose team has called the New York Post‘s report “Russian disinformation,” as Politico notes. But Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe denied that claim Monday, according to USA Today, and now, President Donald Trump wants the Department of Justice to get involved.
“We’ve got to get the attorney general to act,” the president told Fox & Friends on Tuesday, according to Fox News. “He’s gotta act, and he’s gotta act fast, and he’s gotta appoint somebody,” Trump added.
“This is major corruption, and we have to know about this before the election,” the president said. “The attorney general has to act.”
