Bannon: Republicans should subpoena Adam Schiff

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) must not be allowed to just exit the spotlight after trying to overthrow President Donald Trump, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon announced.

Republicans should compel Schiff, along with the Ukraine “whistleblower” and former CIA chief John Brennan, to testify about the effort to remove Trump from office, the MAGA mastermind told Fox News’ Jesse Watters. Bannon warned that Democrats will not stop trying to destroy Trump with hoaxes and that their previous efforts must be uncovered — not just to protect Trump, but future presidents.

“He needs to clear house,” Bannon said Saturday on Watters’ World. “He needs to get people that support his policies in there to execute this.”

Bannon: Time to subpoena Schiff

Donald Trump was acquitted of impeachment charges on Wednesday in what many said was his best week ever. The acquittal gave Trump a reason to brag as a meltdown at the Iowa caucuses left Democrats without a clear front-runner to challenge the president in November.

But Bannon predicted that the “nullification project” will not stop because Democrats don’t have charismatic personalities or strong policies to beat Trump in the election. As Democrats suggest that they may subpoena John Bolton, it’s time for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to punch back and expose the corruption at the heart of the impeachment effort, Bannon said.

Bannon pointed to Schiff and the whistleblower, who Trump and his allies have accused of plotting a coup against Trump, as well as Brennan, who Republicans believe played a role in another coup — the Russian collusion hoax — as key witnesses. Schiff initially denied, then admitted that his office had contact with the whistleblower before his complaint, which sparked the impeachment, about Trump’s phone call surfaced.

“We’ve got to vet this,” Bannon said. “Let’s get it all out there. Let’s get the whistleblower, let’s get the second whistleblower, let’s get Brennan up there, let’s get Adam Schiff as a fact witness.”

Biden probe?

Democrats accused Trump of abusing his power like no other president in history by pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Bidens, but Republicans maintain that Democrats want to protect the Bidens and that Trump’s impeachment was just the latest stage of a partisan coup that began the day of his inauguration. Republicans have accused the Bidens of corruptly selling access to the former vice president and then using political influence to protect a gas company where Hunter worked, Burisma Holdings, from prosecution.

Graham, who chairs the Judiciary Committee, has expressed reluctance to wade into the Biden controversy directly but has said that Senate Republicans will get to the bottom of the Ukraine matter.

Republicans Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Jonson (R-WI) are pressing ahead with their own investigation of the Bidens, and the Treasury Department handed over financial records to them last week. Bannon told Watters that Rudy Giuliani, known for his often erratic interviews, should go on television and share any information he may have about the Bidens and Ukraine, although Graham has insisted that Giuliani’s information will be vetted by Bill Barr’s Justice Department.

“Clear house”

Bannon, who said that “the Trump presidency we fought for is over” after leaving the White House in 2017, says that Trump needs to “clear house” of disloyal officials and hire people who will help him deliver on his “America First” agenda. Trump seemed to take a step in that direction on Friday when he dismissed (really re-assigned) Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman from the National Security Council and fired European Union ambassador Gordon Sondland, who both testified against him in the impeachment.

Democrats cried foul and accused Trump of a Watergate-style (of course) retaliation. But that “purge” should really be just the beginning, Bannon suggested. “They owe it to this country,” Bannon said of Republican senators. “This is before the nation, to see the abuses against Donald Trump so that we can sit there, and what Trump says, it’s not about him, this is about, this should never happen to another president.” Watch:
