Barack Obama tries to tie Texas school shooting to George Floyd, ‘systemic racism’

Barack Obama is giving Americans a fresh reminder of how divisive his presidency was with his reaction to Tuesday’s horrific school shooting in Texas.

As the nation continued to grieve the child victims, Obama fired off an astonishingly tone-deaf tweet tying the massacre with the death of George Floyd two years ago and “systemic racism.”

Obama does the unthinkable

Obama failed to mention the widespread violence inspired by Floyd’s death as he urged Americans to remember Floyd and claimed that “systemic racism” continues to plague the country.

Inexplicably, Obama began the tweet with a reference to the 19 children murdered in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday.

He continued, “In the aftermath of his murder, a new generation of activists rose up to channel their anguish into organized action, launching a movement to raise awareness of systemic racism and the need for criminal justice and police reform.”

Wednesday, May 25 marked two years since Floyd died during an arrest in Minneapolis. Police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering Floyd last year.

Obama goes demagoguing

Floyd’s death set off several months of historically devastating riots and looting and triggered a backlash against law enforcement, the consequences of which are still being felt in crime-ridden cities across the nation.

President Biden commemorated Floyd by signing an executive order that went one step closer to establishing a national police force. Among other reforms, the order creates a new national database of officers fired for misconduct.

As he signed the order, Biden echoed “concern that the reckoning on race inspired two years ago is beginning to fade.”

Despite a rough criminal history, Floyd became in death a sort of religious figure to many on the left and has even been compared by some to Christ.

There is no indication that race had any role in Tuesday’s shooting (or Floyd’s death, for that matter), so it’s unclear why Obama felt it was necessary to suggest otherwise. Obama seems to be competing with Robert Francis O’Rourke for the title of shameless demagogue of the week.
