Barr says FBI will not be held accountable for the Russian Collusion Hoax

The Washington Examiner reports that Former Trump administration Attorney General William Barr just expressed his belief that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will not be held accountable for the Russian Collusion Hoax.

Barr opined on the matter during a recent interview that he did with Byron York.

When asked whether there will be any accountability, Barr replied: “Accountability in the sense of criminal or civil penalties? – No.”

Barr talks Russian Collusion Hoax

Elsewhere in the interview, York asked Barr about the Russian Collusion Hoax, specifically about what the FBI did that Barr found troubling.

Barr explained:

Well, in July [2016], before the election, they pounced on the flimsiest pretext, on the idea that there was collusion between [then-candidate Donald] Trump and the Russians, which is something the Clinton [presidential] campaign [of 2016] was trying to whip up. And, [the FBI] jumped on it. I don’t think there was a predicate for them to do it. And, they started this investigation of the campaign.

Barr continued by highlighting the fact that the FBI used the infamous Steele dossier to secure a FISA application to spy on Trump’s campaign, even though, in Barr’s words, the FBI “should have known [the dossier] was deeply flawed.” Barr also accused the FBI of ignoring “exculpatory information.”

Barr, however, didn’t stop there. He went on to argue that “the most serious activity happened after the [2016] election.”

Barr explained:

By that time, it had become clear to them that the dossier was garbage. And, they doubled down on this case. And, [then-FBI Director James] Comey announc[ed] pretentiously to the Congress that he had Trump, the campaign, under investigation. It throttled the [Trump] administration, and I still believe that it’s inexplicable behavior. It’s hard to explain that.

“I was hoping [for] accountability”

Barr went on to discuss the investigation that is being led by attorney John Durham into the Russian Collusion Hoax. He noted that Durham has been successful in fleshing out Clinton’s role as well as the FBI’s in the Russian Collusion Hoax.

Regarding holding the FBI accountable, Barr said:

Well, you know, I was hoping that there’d be accountability at the FBI because I think the behavior of the leadership of the FBI during 2016 and the first part of 2017 has been catastrophic. It harmed the country, it was completely unfair to the president, and it has completely undercut the FBI.

But, Barr concluded this portion of the interview by opining that he doesn’t expect this accountability to be coming – at least not in the civil or criminal sense.

Barr’s probably right, here. The corruption simply runs too deep.
