Biden admin announces new 'efficiency' rules for window air conditioners, air cleaners

Even as his polling numbers continue to flush down the proverbial drain, President Joe Biden and his administration continue to fail to read the room.

According to The Daily Wire, on the heels of intense backlash over the administration's threats to take away your gas ovens, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm is now targeting your air conditioners so that you can suffer a little more in the hot summer months.

Granholm unveiled several new "climate" and "efficiency" standards that target room air conditioners -- also known as window air conditioners -- and portable air cleaners.

According to the extremely underqualified and pro-China Energy secretary, the new efficiency rules for those appliances will help America with "tackling the climate crisis."

"Historic actions"

While Americans still struggle to afford fuel for vehicles and equipment, Granholm believes her new ideas will be an important tool to fight the left's fantasy of "climate change."

"Today’s announcement builds on the historic actions President Biden took last year to strengthen outdated energy efficiency standards, which will help save on people’s energy bills and reduce our nation’s carbon footprint," Granholm said in a statement.

She added that her agency will "continue to engage with our public and private sector partners to finalize additional proposals like today’s that lower household energy costs and deliver the safer, healthier communities that every American deserves."

She failed to mention that Americans can barely afford groceries and gas, let alone brand-new appliances.

That's not to mention that millions of Americans who have to use window air conditioners probably do not live in Beverly Hills and have bank accounts full of disposable cash. It's akin to the administration telling us to buy $65,000 electric vehicles in order to save on gasoline costs.

"The new rules will come into effect in 2024 for air cleaners and 2026 for room air conditioners. DOE expects the new rules to save consumers more than $25 billion over the ensuing 30 years of shipments," Granholm's statement added.

Social media backlash

Not surprisingly, Granholm's idiotic new rules were immediately trashed across social media, and rightfully so.

"The Biden Administration announced a new crackdown on air conditioners in the name of climate change. Is this what Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm learned from China?," Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) tweeted.

Another user wrote, "We've got a bunch of clowns running our energy dept. Granholm is the lead Bozo! Biden cracks down on air conditioners as war on appliances continues. Govt. mandates 'enforce a level of efficiency that doesn't make sense,' energy expert says."

Add this to the list of actions to be immediately rolled back when the American voting public hopefully elects a Republican president next year.
