In an article published on Sunday, Breitbart noted that the Biden administration has permitted tens of thousands of foreigners in Mexico to schedule appointments with Customs and Border Protection via the CBP One mobile app.
Following their appointments, most of those aliens are then released into the United States. A new report suggests that this policy is putting Americans in serious danger.
According to Breitbart, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has reviewed data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) showing that CBP has freed thousands of "special interest aliens."
As DHS's website explains, the term refers to "a non-U.S. person who, based on an analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a national security risk to the United States or its interests."
DHS adds that "the travel and behavior of such individuals indicates a possible nexus to nefarious activity (including terrorism) and, at a minimum, provides indicators that necessitate heightened screening and further investigation."
Todd Bensman serves as a national security fellow with CIS, and he explained that under the Biden administration, CBP One has served as a gateway for special interest aliens.
"New records released to the Center for Immigration Studies last week as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit reveal that the Biden administration has been authorizing thousands of [special interest aliens] for escorted entries through land ports along the border since at least May 2021, using 'CBP One' online interfaces such as a mobile phone app," Bensman was quoted as saying in a report released last week.
It detailed how "the administration has authorized the paroles into the country of some 7,332 [special interest aliens] from 24 of the roughly 35-40 U.S.-designated countries, including smatterings from Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan."
However, the report stressed that "the largest numbers coming from Muslim-majority former Soviet republics in Central Asia such as the Kyrgyz Republic, also known as Kyrgyzstan, (3,852) and Uzbekistan (1,843)."
This issue has drawn the attention of Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley, who confronted DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about it in a letter.
"Illegal aliens with potential ties to terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah have no place in the United States," Hawley wrote.
"In the wake of Hamas’s attack on Israel, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is already alerting Americans about an elevated number of violent threats against civilians, including antisemitic threats," he continued.
"It is therefore critical that you abandon your radical open border policies, and instead, take immediate action to secure the border," the senator declared.
"As Secretary, your number one priority should be protecting American citizens against potential terrorists entering our country," Hawley pointed out.
