Biden administration touts ‘gender-affirming care’ as former trans teen voices regret

Kaiser Health News (KHN) and PolitiFact teamed up last week to debunk a political ad claiming that President Joe Biden supports transgender surgery on minors.

Yet while both organizations said the radio spot went “too far” with its claims, the fact that Biden even has to face the issue is a nightmare that will only get worse.

White House warned states against limiting “gender-affirming care”

In March, the White House released a fact sheet touting “new actions to support the mental health of transgender children.”

This includes sending “a letter to all state attorneys general reminding them of federal constitutional and statutory provisions that protect transgender youth against discrimination, including when those youth seek gender-affirming care.”

However, the fact check from KHN and PolitiFact said this does not justify the ad’s contention that “Joe Biden and the New Left even promote surgery on teens and young adults, removing breasts and genitals.”

The two groups argued that “the ad leaves out other types of care — such as mental health services — that are considered the starting point for caring for this at-risk population.”

Former trans teenager: “I don’t know if I’ll be able to conceive a child naturally”

Nevertheless, some minors are indeed undergoing gender transition surgery before later coming to regret it. One of them is Chloe Cole, who spoke last week with Fox News host Tucker Carlson about her experience.

Cole explained that she went on puberty blockers and testosterone at 13 and then had both of her breasts removed in a double mastectomy two years later. Cole went on to say that her parents were advised by health professionals to go ahead with the procedure.

“They were concerned, and they wanted what was best for me, but they weren’t really sure what to do with me, so they sought professional help, and from then on, I was basically referred [to] in my gender identity without any questioning from any medical professionals, and they pushed transitioning as the way to treat gender dysphoria,” she said.

Cole told host Carlson she is “devastated,” saying, “As an adult, I will never be able to breast-feed whatever children I will have.

“I don’t even know if, because I was put on puberty blockers and testosterone at only 13 years old, I don’t know if I’ll be able to conceive a child naturally. I made an adult decision as a child.”
