Biden admin’s approach to China could lead to war: Report

A former Defense Department leader says the Biden administration’s approach to China is the opposite of what it should be doing to avoid war.

Former Defense Department official Elbridge Colby shared the comments on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Friday.

The warning

“I warned in a Wall Street Journal piece back in February that there was a real risk that Ukraine would be a distraction from China and Taiwan. And frankly, here we are,” Colby said.

“And the administration says they can walk and chew gum at the same time. I’m sorry, is dealing with the biggest, first true pure superpower in our history — is that walking or is that chewing gum?” he added.

The challenge

Colby also addressed the better way to address China’s aggression.

“We need leadership that will address this forthrightly and seriously, precisely to avoid the war,” he noted.

“But the way you avoid the war, as you said — President Reagan’s wisdom on that — was to be strong and clear and project that strength, and we’re basically doing the opposite right now,” Colby added.

The White House has noted that Biden plans to talk with China’s president in the next few days to discuss the situation with Taiwan.

The discussion may also focus on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s plans to visit Taiwan, a move China has condemned, as the tensions continue with the communist nation.
