Joe Biden admits he knew Obama officials wanted to investigate Michael Flynn: Report

Joe Biden has made a potentially significant admission about what was really going on in the White House just before Barack Obama left office.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, the former vice president said that he knew the Obama administration wanted an investigation into then-incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Breitbart reported, though he didn’t delve any further into the matter.

Biden’s admission

Biden’s interview came as speculation has ramped up about what and when Barack Obama and Biden knew about an alleged plot to entrap Flynn. As The Hill reported, the Department of Justice last week filed a motion to drop the case against Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to investigators before seeking to withdraw his plea.

On Tuesday, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos grilled Biden about a Jan. 5, 2017, meeting to discuss Flynn that included Obama, Biden, and a group of senior officials including then-FBI Director James Comey.

At first, Biden demurred in response to Stephanopoulos, but then he conceded that he knew a probe into Flynn was being sought in the finals days of the Obama presidency.

“No, I thought you asked me whether or not I had anything to do with him being prosecuted,” Biden said, according to Breitbart. “I’m sorry. I was aware that there was — that they had asked for an investigation. But that’s all I know about it and I don’t think anything else.”

According to recently disclosed documents, Obama met with Biden, Comey, and other top officials over concerns about phone calls that Flynn made to a Russian ambassador, Sergei Kislyak, during the presidential transition. The FBI interviewed Flynn about the contacts in January of 2017 despite already having transcripts of the calls, according to Fox News.

Unmasking docs revealed

Trump allies say that the circumstances of Flynn’s interview establish that he was set up, but the left has signally ignored the theory. Biden told ABC that Republicans are simply attempting to create a “diversion” from Trump’s supposedly botched coronavirus response, according to National Review.

The president has called the scandal, which he has dubbed “Obamagate,” “the biggest political crime in U.S. history,” Politico reported.

It was later revealed Wednesday that Biden was among a group of officials who tried to “unmask” Flynn, Fox News reported. The list, disclosed by top spy Ric Grenell, also included Comey, former CIA chief John Brennan, and former spy chief James Clapper. The Trump campaign didn’t hesitate to blast the new indications of Biden’s involvement.

“Americans have a right to know the depth of Biden’s involvement in the setup of Gen. Flynn to further the Russia collusion hoax,” Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale said in part, according to Fox News.

Biden may soon decide, upon reflection, that he really should just keep hiding in his basement.
