You would never guess from President Joe Biden’s policies, but there are one or two people in his circle of advisers who are wary of moving too far to the left.
An adviser to Biden, Cedric Richmond, even dismissed socialist Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MN) as “f***ing idiots,” according to a new book.
Not a fan of the “Squad”
The left complained about Richmond’s appointment to lead the Office of Public Engagement over his ties to the fossil fuel industry.
Richmond, a former House Representative and chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, criticized Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive allies in a phone call with a Louisiana ally, according to a new book, This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.
The Democrat said that the so-called “Squad” are “f***ing idiots,” specifically mentioning AOC and Tlaib, who had misinterpreted the 2020 election results – which left Democrats narrowly in control of Congress — as a mandate to pursue their progressive agenda.
Many Democrats blamed the “defund the police” movement championed by AOC and her allies for the party’s modest performance.
Like Richmond, Biden adviser Steve Ricchetti complained that “the problem with the left is they don’t understand that they lost.”
Somebody should probably tell that to Biden. Despite complaints from leftists that Biden has not been progressive enough, Biden’s presidency has been plenty radical, despite his promise to voters to govern as a familiar moderate.
It seems Biden is just as confused as AOC about what voters were saying in 2020. He came into office with an audacious, FDR-sized agenda that no one really asked for. He has effectively abolished ICE. AOC ought to be thrilled.
Illegal immigration has skyrocketed since he started opening the southern border on his first day in office. He has broken promises to heal the nation by injecting racist, divisive “equity” ideology into all aspects of public policy.
What’s more, Biden has pushed hard for the Green New Deal and has driven inflation to its highest level in forty years with reckless spending.
Voters weren’t asking for any of this when Biden was elected by narrow margins in a few swing states. If Biden and his party suffer in the midterms, as expected, it will be because he governed as if those “f***ing idiots” represented most Americans.
