Pres. Biden announces ‘door-by-door’ approach to get more people vaccinated

If you have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus, watch out. You could soon be getting a visit from the government.

Breitbart reports that President Joe Biden is launching what he has referred to as a “door-by-door” effort to pressure unvaccinated Americans into taking a coronavirus vaccine.

“Literally knocking on doors”

Biden and his administration failed to reach their goal of having 70 percent of American adults vaccinated against the coronavirus by the Fourth of July weekend. At the same time, there are growing concerns about the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

So, Biden and his administration are intensifying their vaccination campaign. Biden talked about that campaign in a speech that he gave on Tuesday, and that’s where he revealed this “door-by-door” approach.

“Now, we need to go to community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oftentimes door to door, literally knocking on doors, to get help for the remaining people protected from the virus,” Biden said.

Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki similarly referred to “targeted community door-to-door outreach” as part of the Biden administration’s five-pronged coronavirus approach going forward. She said that the purpose of this door-to-door approach is to “get remaining Americans vaccinated by ensuring that they have the information they need on how both safe and accessible the vaccine is.”

Psaki also suggested that President Biden would not be against the reimposition of coronavirus restrictions, which is something else to watch out for.

Republicans respond

Suffice it to say, that many did not take too kindly to the idea of the government knocking on one’s door in order to try to pressure him or her into getting vaccinated.

“How about don’t knock on my door,” Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) wrote. “You’re not my parents. You’re the government. Make the vaccine available, and let people be free to choose. Why is that concept so hard for the left?”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said “it’s NONE of the government’s business knowing who has or hasn’t been vaccinated.”

And, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) pointed out the ridiculousness of the whole idea, writing, “the government now wants to go door-to-door to convince you to get an ‘optional’ vaccine.”

As Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) put it: “A lot of people have big government antibodies. Don’t knock on those doors.”
