Biden calls for ban on sales of most popular and commonly-owned handguns

There is no disguising the fact that President Joe Biden is an enemy of the Second Amendment-protected gun rights cherished and enjoyed by millions of law-abiding American citizens, but the full depth of that enmity has rarely been fully revealed.

Biden slipped up recently, though, and let it be known that his anti-gun agenda, far beyond restricting so-called “assault weapons” or “high-capacity” ammunition magazines, also includes a desired ban on the sale of the most popular and commonly-owned semi-automatic handguns in this country.

“I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things”

It was during a CNN town hall event in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 21 that President Biden was asked by an audience member about his plans to address gun violence.

Biden first directed the young woman toward the gun control legislation he’s already proposed, claimed that crime overall was down even though gun violence and murder rates had increased, and then heralded his role in passing the defunct “assault weapons ban” of 1994 that did little, if anything, to reduce gun crime.

“The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon — whether it’s a — whether it’s a 9-millimeter pistol or whether it’s a rifle — is ridiculous,” Biden said, and added, “I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things,” though he acknowledged the unlikelihood of doing so in the near future.

PolitiFact swoops in to defend the gun-grabbing president

As seen above, House Republicans were swift in pointing out the fairly clear admission from President Biden that he wanted to “eliminate the sale” of such firearms as the incredibly popular and widely available 9mm handguns.

The ridiculously biased and wrongly named PolitiFact just as quickly rushed to Biden’s defense with an absurd “fact check” of the House Republicans’ statement “Biden says he wants to ban handguns” as being “false.”

The leftist “fact-checkers” laughably claimed, “Biden was talking about banning assault weapons and magazines that carry 20 to 120 rounds of ammunition. Those policies would not affect the most popular handgun models. Even if some smaller set of pistols came under such a ban, that would not translate to a ban on handguns across the board.”

Nearly all semi-automatic firearms capable of accepting a detachable magazine would be banned

Except, as was pointed out by the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), what PolitiFact asserted in Biden’s defense is what is actually “false” and untrue, as Biden’s own statement paired with prior remarks make it abundantly clear that virtually all semi-automatic handguns, as well as rifles and shotguns, would be banned if Biden got his way.

That is because Biden was clearly referencing detachable magazines in mentioning various capacity levels, and pretty much every modern semi-automatic firearm is capable of accepting a magazine that would, under Biden’s regime, be classified as “high-capacity” and worthy of being banned, regardless of whatever standard size a particular firearm’s magazines came in.

Thus, given that semi-automatic handguns are America’s most popular and most-purchased firearm, with 9mm being the most popular caliber, and virtually all are capable of holding a magazine holding more than 10-15 rounds that come standard, Biden did indeed call for a ban on the sale of popular and commonly-owned handguns.
