President Joe Biden has long been a vocal proponent of mask-wearing as a way to limit the spread of COVID-19. However, the president was recently caught failing to practice what he incessantly preaches.
On Saturday, a popular YouTube channel, GOP War Room, posted a video of Biden inside a store on Massachusetts’ Nantucket Island without a mask on, despite a large sign on the door stating that mask use is required.
This is not the first time that Biden has failed to follow his own masking advice. Fox News reported in October that Biden spoke and shook hands without a mask while visiting a Michigan auto plant, yet stopped to put one on before posing for the reporters’ cameras.
In addition to promoting masks, Biden recently announced a travel ban that impacts a number of African countries basing the ban on the announcement of a potentially highly-transmissible COVID-19 variant known as omicron.
However, that move didn’t go over well with Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R), who asserted on Monday that the ban is unlikely to be effective.
“What President Biden did over the weekend is a typical half-measure that reflects the incompetence of this administration,” Cotton told Fox News. “If you want to implement a travel ban it needs to go into effect immediately,” the senator insisted. “That’s what most European nations did that implemented that travel ban.”
“If you don’t want to implement a travel ban because you think the virus is already here or that it’s counterproductive then you shouldn’t do so. But this is yet another incompetent half-measure.”
Remember last year?
“Last January, when the Democrats were wasting the American people’s time with the impeachment trial of President Trump, I was trying to sound the alarm about this virus,” Cotton recalled.
The Republican senator added: “I was calling for President Trump to stop travel immediately from China to the United States after about a week, President Trump did so.”
“And I remember then that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris denounced it as xenophobic and racist just like they called subsequent travel bans on other countries racist as well,” Cotton noted.
Indeed, Fox News reported Sunday how in February 2020, Biden accused his predecessor of promoting “hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering” by restricting travel from China and other countries.
