President Biden’s pathetic excuses for the ongoing baby formula shortage have been exposed for what they are, with his own top officials admitting the administration has known about the problem for months.
In a CNN interview, Health and Human Services secretary Xavier Becerra said that the administration has been aware of the crisis since “last year,” The Daily Wire reported.
Biden official contradicts POTUS
Over 40 percent of baby formula supplies are out of stock. While the crisis has become particularly acute lately, it has been brewing for some time.
The largest producer of baby formula in the country, Abbott Nutrition, shut down its Michigan plant in February and issued a recall over health concerns. That compounded supply chain crunches resulting from the Democratic party’s pointless, destructive, and fear-driven coronavirus lockdowns.
While Biden recently whined that his administration isn’t staffed by “mind-readers,” Becerra claimed that the administration is, and has been, doing everything it can to relieve the crisis since it began in 2021.
“From everything I’ve known, the FDA has kept me apprised of this from last year,” he told CNN. “We have been moving as quickly as we can.”
Biden points the finger
It seems that once again, a reactive, aging, and irritable Biden is straying from the talking points of his aides.
The administration’s excuses are sure to fall on deaf ears as families continue to encounter bare shelves — and adding insult to injury, Biden has continued to prioritize providing scarce baby formula to illegal immigrants.
The crisis has given Republicans another opening to attack Biden’s inept and neglectful stewardship of the nation and its economy, and even Melania Trump has weighed in on the “heartbreaking” issue.
In the meantime, the administration is scrambling to get Abbott’s factory restarted and is seeking to increase imports, steps that could take weeks to have any effect, the AP reported. It’s unclear why they weren’t taken sooner.
This is one issue where Biden’s “Come on, man!” act won’t cut it. When will he start accepting responsibility for his failures, as he promised to do?
