Biden, Dems turn to fear-mongering ahead of midterms

By now, it is clear that the Democrats have nothing to run on this election season. They know it too. So, it appears that they are now turning to fear-mongering.

Fox News reports that President Joe Biden on Friday warned voters that if Republicans take control of Congress then they will try to issue a nationwide ban on abortions.

Background

Biden made the comment during a virtual meeting that he held on Friday with the governors of Connecticut, New York, Colorado, California, North Carolina, New Mexico, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, and Rhode Island.

It appears that part of the purpose of the meeting was to organize a state-led response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Biden referred to the court’s decision to do so as a “terrible, extreme decision” that is “upending lives and impacting on the health safety of millions of women.”

Biden, however, also spent the meeting discussing the federal response to the court’s decision – both what his administration is doing and what Congress ought to do.

Vote Dem. or else . . .

After outlining the steps that his administration is taking, Biden argued that “ultimately, Congress is going to have to act to codify Roe into federal law.”

Biden, here, even said that “the filibuster should not stand in the way” of this.

But, he noted that for the time being the Democrats don’t have the votes to overturn the filibuster. This is part of the reason why Biden urged voters to vote Democrat this November.

Then, Biden had this to say:

So, the choice is clear: Either elect senators and representatives who will codify Roe, or Republicans … will try to ban abortions nationwide. Nationwide. This is going to go one way or the other after November.

Dems are striking out

Recent polling has shown that Republicans are still favored on generic congressional ballots just as they were before the Supreme Court overturned Roe.

In other words, it would appear that Americans have more important issues – such as the U.S. economy – on their minds at the moment than abortion.

This is why the Democrats and Biden are now pushing this issue even more desperately – it’s literally all they got. Accordingly, expect even more extreme language in the coming weeks.
