Biden forgets what he’s saying, MSNBC’s Ruhle jumps in to help

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden suffered another breakdown on camera, this time forgetting the point he was trying to make before a friendly news anchor jogged his memory.

In the awkward moment, Biden grew visibly flustered while discussing the coronavirus with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle.

Biden gets lost in interview

“For example, the Paycheck Protection Act, you know, one percent of the money’s gone out,” Biden said, shutting his eyes in pained concentration. “One percent. One percent of the, uh, the—that’s not the Paycheck, the, the, the, um, uh, the, uh, the bill for small, for major, for small businesses—”

“Mainstream lending,” Ruhle said, jumping in.

“Mainstream lending, one percent’s gone out,” Biden said. Watch:

The interview came after Ruhle inspired mockery for complaining that Biden was pitting wealthy elites against the working class when he described his campaign as “Scranton Versus Park Avenue.” Biden was born in Scranton and often leans into that biographical detail to paint himself as an average Joe.

As a matter of fact, Wall Street has donated five times as much to Biden’s campaign as to Trump’s, so maybe it would behoove Biden to know where his bread is buttered. Indeed, it would appear that Wall Street will even hold Biden’s hand through a softball interview.

Trump, Biden prepare to debate

Nevertheless, the gaffes continue. The slip-up came the same day that Biden said he had been in the Senate for 180 years, and in the same interview with Ruhle, he compared Donald Trump to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

“He’s sort of like Goebbels,” Biden said. “You say the lie long enough, keep repeating it, repeating it, repeating it, it becomes common knowledge.”

Not only is Trump a Nazi, in Biden’s reckoning, but he is behind the deaths of “200 million people” from the coronavirus, Biden said in another recent slip that raised eyebrows.

These bizarre episodes come before a highly anticipated showdown between Biden and Trump in their first presidential debate. President Trump has challenged Biden, who he has often disparaged as “sleepy” and in need of help from teleprompters and a biased media, to take a drug test beforehand.

“Joe Biden just announced that he will not agree to a Drug Test. Gee, I wonder why?” Trump tweeted Monday.
