President Joe Biden may end Title 42 by the end of July, removing a key immigration policy that has kept more than 600,000 illegal immigrants out of the country.
Ending Title 42 “will send a clear message to the entire world — grab a kid, illegally enter our border, and we will release you into the interior of the U.S.” former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Thomas Homan told Breitbart News.
“It will act as a powerful incentive to be exploited by human smuggling organizations and act as a magnet for the migrants,” Homan added.
In addition, “It will result in increased suffering and inhumanity as migrants will be willing to sacrifice their lives knowing they will be allowed entry into our country.”
Stopping an “Uncontrollable Catastrophe”
New Mexico Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell tweeted, “This is the only thing preventing his border crisis from turning into a complete and uncontrollable catastrophe.”

Title 42 is a policy implemented by former President Donald Trump that used the COVID-19 pandemic as a reason to stop immigrants from entering the nation’s southern border.
The Current Status of Title 42
According to Axios, “Between Oct. 1 and the end of May, Border Patrol agents used that rule to expel 650,000 migrant families, children and adults.”
As of now, only about two-thirds of illegal immigrant cases uses Title 42, according to Customs and Border Patrol.
According to the Washington Post, “Despite the Biden administration’s messaging telling migrants not to come to the United States and its refusal to set a termination date for Title 42, the order is being applied to fewer families with children.
“Of the 44,639 families apprehended in May, nearly 9,000 were expelled into Mexico while the majority were allowed to enter the country to pursue their immigration cases such as asylum.”
The pandemic may be declining in America, but removing Title 42 would only worsen the already serious problem of illegal immigrants entering the nation.
