Drivers are continuing to be hit hard by high fuel costs, with a website maintained by the American Automobile Association (AAA) reporting that in many areas, the price of gas exceeds $5 per gallon.
In response, President Joe Biden has accused gas stations of deliberately inflating costs to target consumers. However, the response to that claim may have left him surprised.
Biden trolled by Chinese state media
Biden made the allegation in a tweet put out last Friday, declaring, “My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril.”
“Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product,” the president demanded, adding, “And do it now.”

As the Western Journal reported, Biden subsequently found himself being trolled by a member of Chinese state media.
Chen Weihua serves as EU bureau chief for China Daily, and he tweeted, “Now US President finally realized that capitalism is all about exploitation. He didn’t believe this before.”

Bezos slams Biden
Perhaps most alarming for the president was the response from Amazon founder and high-dollar Democratic donor Jeff Bezos, who tweeted, “Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this. It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics.”
Meanwhile, conservative author Michael Shellenberger pointed out how the president previously called on oil companies to refine more gasoline despite America’s refining capacity being already maxed out.
Many people are confused as to why high oil & gasoline prices aren’t resulting in significantly more oil production & refining. But the reason is simple: President Biden has actively prevented it since taking office in the name of climate change.https://t.co/rvLzAZoFmE

“On June 15, Biden said refiners ‘must take immediate actions to increase the supply of gasoline.’ But refineries were already operating at 94-98%,” Shellenberger added.
