Biden’s ‘chief of staff’ says to expect a national mask mandate

During Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, there was a lot of talk about whether he, if elected, would institute a national mask mandate. The answer to that question has just been made clear.

Ron Klain, who will be Biden’s chief of staff should Biden become America’s next president, has confirmed that the American people ought to expect the implementation of a national mask mandate from a Biden administration, Breitbart reports

Get ready

Klain explained Biden’s plan during a recent appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“And the very first business day of his transition on Monday of this week, the president-elect met with his COVID task force and made a public statement afterwards where he called on all Americans to mask up,” Klain said. “He urged governors to impose masking mandates now and reiterated the fact when he becomes president, he will impose one on a nationwide basis.”

Klain added that there is “not that much Joe Biden can do right now to change things other than to reiterate the message you heard from Dr. Osterholm, which is that all Americans and our state and local governments need to step up right now.”

Then Klain finished with the sort of fearmongering that we have seen from the mainstream media and that it appears we should expect from a Biden administration.

“But right now, we have a crisis that’s getting worse,” Klain said. “You know, we had never had a day with 100,000 cases in a single day until last week. By next week, we may see 200,000 cases in a single day. So, this is getting much worse.”

Should we also expect a national lockdown?

Klain made it clear that Dr. Osterholm will be an authoritative voice for the Biden administration, which is bad news.

Dr. Osterholm is Dr. Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center of Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota and a member of Biden’s coronavirus advisory board. Osterholm has made it clear that he believes that a four to six-week national lockdown is in order.

It is unclear whether Biden would take Osterholm’s advice here. But, another member of Biden’s coronavirus advisory board, Dr. Celine Gounder, has a different approach – perhaps, a worse one.

Gounder has said that she would be in favor of targeting “the places that we know are big contributors to transmission,” namely, “indoor restaurants, bars, gyms, and also private social gatherings of friends and family in the home.” She would also be in favor of getting people to cooperate with contact tracing, to wear masks, and to socially distance. And, it appears that she would present Americans with an ultimatum: “it’s really in everyone’s power to prevent a shutdown if they take those measures.”

Big Brother is coming.
