When President Joe Biden campaigned in 2020, he often promised that, if elected, his administration would work quickly to end the COVID-19 pandemic in America.
Yet, in a Friday monologue, Fox News host Sean Hannity excoriated the president and accused him and his policies of “leading this country straight into a massive new health crisis” of Biden’s own making.
Biden makes problem worse
At the heart of the host’s complaints were two major issues — the “mixed messaging” and politicization of masks and vaccines, as well as Biden’s lax border security and immigration enforcement policies that are ushering in hundreds of thousands of new migrants, some of whom are sick with COVID-19.
“Let’s start with the vaccines,” Hannity said. “Last year while President Trump was working with scientists and major pharmaceutical companies to cut all the red tape and expedite safe effective vaccines, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, their friends in the media mob, their press secretaries, well, they were busy sowing doubt and pushing anti-vax, anti-Trump conspiracy theories — of course, we know why, all for political gain.”
Biden’s “mixed messaging”
Hannity moved on to call out the Biden administration for its constantly shifting narrative on masks and vaccines and what was necessary and when — none of which appear to be based on science, but rather, on political considerations.
“Of course, the mixed messaging from the White House is almost impossible to fully track at this point,” he said. “First, Biden couldn’t shake his obsession with forcing Americans — ‘gotta wear the mask at all times, even fully vaccinated Americans gotta wear the mask.'”
“Remember Biden then declared a new policy: vax or mask, remember that? Now it’s vax and mask, and vaccine mandates and mask mandates and other draconian new restrictions, and the possibility of yet more shutdowns,” Hannity continued.
He went on to slam the confusion and uncertainty expressed by American citizens and small business owners with regard to the “false promises” from Biden and the threat of a return of the harsh restrictions faced by many last year.
Biden at fault
Hannity was particularly focused, however, on Biden’s border and immigration policies, and said, “This is by far, nothing close, the single largest super-spreader event in the country that is now still ongoing. It all started on January 20, 2021. We now have well over one million illegal immigrants pouring across the border from all over the world … many infected with COVID-19.”
He had some especially fierce criticism for the fact that Biden and Democrats are forcing Americans to abide by strict public health protocols while not applying those same measures to the migrants arriving at and crossing over the southern U.S. border.
“We really can’t trust that derelict shell of a president Joe Biden. We can’t trust his administration. We can’t trust the Democratic party and the media mob, he lives in their protection program,” Hannity said. “They care about politics and power clearly more than our health and our safety. They are unscientific, unprincipled, ever-changing, autocratic policies — yeah, it’s leading this country straight into a massive new health crisis of their making.”
