President Joe Biden warned Americans during a gloomy speech on Thursday that unvaccinated Americans will be responsible for a “winter of severe illness and death” this winter.
“We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm,” Biden said.
“But there’s good news: If you’re vaccinated and you have your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death,” he added.
Doom and Gloom
“President Biden’s warning of a ‘winter of severe illness and death’ makes President Jimmy Carter’s ‘malaise’ speech urging Americans to lower expectations seem a cheerful upper by contrast,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tweeted.
“How do Democrats run as the party of ‘severe illness and death”? This is madness,'” he added.

Booster to the Rescue?
Biden also argued getting a booster shot would help rescue those who have already been vaccinated and have concerns about new variant.
“Biden stressed the effectiveness of booster shots in guarding against severe illness. He noted nearly 57 million Americans have gotten boosted, which experts have said is one way to guard against severe illness regardless of the variants,” The Hill noted.

Many are growing concerned that shots will not be enough. Among pro sports teams that have nearly 100 percent vaccination levels, outbreaks have spread this week that have led to games being postponed.
Others argue the variants will continue to come and Americans should instead live without restrictions and treat the virus as an endemic rather than a pandemic.
Regardless of views, Biden hasn’t offered much hope in his latest message. The doom and gloom fear also doesn’t help address his other problem areas like inflation, gas prices, supply chain issues and other concerns that could lead to Democrat losses in 2022.
