The Biden administration has insisted that it is on the case as thousands of Haitian migrants continue to gather in Del Rio, Texas.
Instead of dutifully enforcing immigration laws, however, reports indicate many of the undocumented immigrants are simply being allowed to remain in the United States.
“Our borders are not open”
According to the Associated Press, the Haitian migrants are being released into American communities on a large scale, undercutting the administration’s claim about widespread deportations.
Two federal officials anonymously told the press that many migrants are being released, with one source indicating that thousands have been let go with nothing more than a notice to appear at an immigration office at a later date.
The White House has maintained its pretence that the border is closed despite evidence to the contrary.
Foreign nationals who have arrived at the border by the hundreds of thousands since January have largely been allowed entry. Making matters worse, the Biden administration has castigated the Border Patrol agents tasked with maintaining order amid chaos along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement reiterating the administration’s position that “our borders are not open.”
“Violating his oath of office”
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas went on to issue a warning to would-be border-crossers, asserting: “If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned, your journey will not succeed, and you will be endangering your life and your family’s life.”
Nevertheless, the president’s open-borders agenda remains ongoing without interruption.
The AP article noted that it remains unclear how many migrants have been released and under what circumstances. When Mayorkas was asked how many migrants had been released so far this year, he declined to answer.
Given the chaotic situation that continues to unfold along the border and in communities nationwide, it is hardly surprising that Biden’s immigration policy is one of several issues a growing number of Republicans believe warrant impeachment.
In response to the steady stream of undocumented immigrants effectively released thus far in Biden’s term, U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) said: “If that isn’t violating his oath of office to protect American citizens, our safety, and our welfare, I don’t know what is.”
