Biden remains holed up in isolation with COVID ‘rebound’ case

Quadruple-vaccinated President Biden remains holed up at the White House with a “rebound” case of COVID-19.

White House doctor Kevin O’Connor said Friday that Biden is doing “very well,” but he will continue isolating, Fox News reported.

Biden still holed up with COVID

O’Connor said that Biden is virtually asymptomatic at this point, but he’s still testing positive.

Biden tested positive for the first time on July 21. He recovered, then tested positive a second time on July 30. Biden’s “rebound” case has been linked with the Pfizer anti-viral pill he is taking, Paxlovid.

Biden’s “rebound” case came after he mocked President Trump’s hospital stay to treat COVID shortly before the 2020 election. Contrasting Trump’s experience with his own supposedly mild case, Biden claimed that the pandemic is no longer an emergency because of the availability of vaccines.

“When my predecessor got COVID he had to get helicoptered to Walter Reed Medical Center,” Biden said.

“He was severely ill. Thankfully he recovered. I got COVID, I worked from upstairs of the White House …. for the five-day period.”

Media bury the lede

Echoing remarks by Trump that prompted intense media backlash at the time, Biden declared that Americans can “live without fear.”

“Grandparents are hugging their kids and grandkids again. Weddings, birthdays, celebrations are happening in person again,” Biden said last week. “Let’s keep emerging from one of the darkest moments in our history.”

While Trump’s COVID bout received borderline conspiratorial coverage — the media accused his doctor of a cover-up — the media have covered Biden’s illness by relaying his doctor’s reports with little skepticism.

Biden’s doctor last year declared him “vigorous” and fit, even though his physical exam did not include a cognitive test.

The media have also downplayed the fact that Biden’s four vaccinations failed to block the infection, as well as his past comments that COVID is a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” and his warning that “patience” was “wearing thin” with those declining the shots.
