Some surprising information has been released about the paternity suit in which Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, currently finds himself.
It turns out that Biden reached a settlement this week, and as part of the agreement the amount that he will be paying for child support will be kept secret.
Hunter Biden has been locked in a legal battle with Lunden Alexis Roberts for months.
It began with Roberts, a 28-year-old Arkansas woman who formerly worked as a stripper at a club Biden frequented, claiming that Biden was the father of her child in May 2019. This matter was quickly settled by a DNA test, which found “with scientific certainty” that Biden was the father of the child.
The legal battle, though, raged on about child support. This is where things got especially interesting.
Hunter Biden, along with father and former vice president Joe Biden, was at the center of President Donald Trump’s recent impeachment trial, and for good reason. The whole matter, after all, began after Trump asked Ukraine to look into the Bidens’ business dealings in that country.
Although the details are still being worked out, we have learned that Hunter, despite having no real qualifications, made millions of dollars while sitting on the board of a Ukrainian energy firm at a time when his father, as vice president, was in charge of Ukrainian policy. We further learned that, after the company came under scrutiny for corruption, the elder Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees until the prosecutor looking into Burisma — and thus his son — was fired.
Now, it was hoped that the paternity suit between Biden and Roberts would shed some light on Biden’s financial situation, not only from his time in Ukraine but for other business dealing as well, such as with China. And, for some time, it looked as though Biden was going to have to disclose this financial information.
That all changed this week.
Reports indicate that Biden and Roberts finally reached a child support agreement this week and that it has been approved by the Arkansas judge overseeing the case.
As reported by Washington Examiner, Hunter Biden agreed to pay for child support, reimburse Roberts for the cost of their child’s health insurance, and cover some attorney’s fees and costs.” But “the amounts are redacted as all the ‘essential terms’ of the order have been sealed and will be kept ‘in a secure location inaccessible by the public.'”
Now, it is solely in the hands of the Senate through its current investigation into Hunter Biden to get to the bottom of things. Let’s hope they do.
