Biden struggles to respond to reporter’s question on recent cyberattack

While visiting a farmer’s market in Michigan this weekend, President Joe Biden was asked by a reporter about recent cyberattacks that are believed to have originated from Russia. But as Breitbart reported, video footage of Biden’s response suggests that he was having a little trouble thinking on his feet.

“We’re not sure it’s the Russians,” the president replied, apparently before the reporter had finished asking her question. “I got a brief while I was on the plane,” he added. “That’s why I was late getting off the plane. I got a brief. I’ll be in better shape to talk to you about it, hang on a second.”

“I’ll tell you what they sent me”

Biden then pulled a set of notes out of his jacket pocket before giving a longer answer that was notably incoherent at times. “I’ll tell you what they sent me,” he said, according to Breitbart.

The president went on: “The idea that, first of all, we’re not sure who it is, for certain, number one, and what I did, I directed the full resources of the government to assist in a, our response if we determine…and the fact is that the director of the intelligence community gave me a deep dive on what’s happened and I’ll know better tomorrow, and if it is either with the knowledge of, and/or a consequence of Russia, then I told Putin we will respond.”

When the reporter asked if he had addressed the matter with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Biden said he hadn’t “because we’re not certain,” adding, “The initial thinking was it was not the Russian government, but we’re not sure yet.” Take a look:

“He won’t ace it”

Biden’s comments will likely be cited by his critics as further evidence of what some have suggested may be signs of a cognitive decline in the Democrat president. He became somewhat known for his gaffes along the 2020 campaign trail, once confusing Vermont with New Hampshire and later even telling voters that he was seeking a seat in the United States Senate, rather than the White House.

Last week, former President Donald Trump charged during an event alongside Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) that couldn’t Biden could pass the same cognitive fitness test Trump took while he was in office.

“He won’t ace it,” the former president said, according to the New York Post. “He will get the first two. There are 35 questions and the first two or three are pretty easy. They are the animals. This is a lion, a giraffe. When he gets to around 20, he’s going to have a little hard time.”

“Something concerning”

But former White House physician Ronny Jackson, who is currently serving Texas as a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, has said if Biden wants to put the speculation to rest, a cognitive test like the one Trump described would be a good place to start.

“You don’t need to be a physician to look at this behavior and see there’s something concerning happening,” Jackson told Fox News over the weekend.

During Trump’s presidency, “the far left and the mainstream media were demanding that be the new standard for anybody who’s going to lead our country and be our commander-in-chief and our head of state,” he added. “I’m just asking them, when you do the physical exam [on Biden later this year], include the cognitive assessment… As far as I’m concerned, the standard precedent has been set.”
