Biden’s White House trashed on social media over bizarre holiday tweet

Politicians are often criticized for being out of touch with the average American, given the extravagant lifestyles which many of them live.

Leading up to the Independence Day holiday weekend, President Joe Biden’s White House was widely criticized and mocked on social media after it revealed through a tweet regarding holiday BBQ prices just how far out of touch with the American consumer that they truly are, according to the Washington Examiner

What did they say?

Like virtually every American who routinely shops at the grocery stores, hardware stores, or hits the gas station for a fill-up, it’s painfully clear that inflation feels as though it’s as high as it’s ever been.

The cost of essentially all daily items that we depend on has risen — there’s simply not a genuine way to deny that, though Democrats appear to be trying.

That was evidenced in a bizarre tweet posted by the White House on Thursday, in which the Biden administration failed in its attempt to pretend like prices haven’t risen under Biden’s time in the White House. In the tweet, it was announced to the American public that this year, the cost of a Fourth of July cookout is a whopping $0.16 from last year.

Adding to the cringe factor of the tweet were the condiment-related puns inserted into the goofy message by whomever runs the White House’s official Twitter account.

The mocking was fierce

Not long after the tweet was published, the post received thousands of hilarious replies from everyday Americans and high-profile Republicans, with many of them pointing out that the cost of driving to the grocery store — due to high fuel prices — eliminated the generous $0.16 savings.

“$.16 savings… over your whole 4th of July BBQ. Yup 16 cents… YUGE savings!!!! as long as you didn’t have to drive to pick it up in which case after about a few yards of driving you’re in the hole. Great job Joe. Thanks for highlighting,” Donald Trump Jr. tweeted.

The ridiculous White House tweet also made its rounds in the media. Fox News reporter Peter Doocy challenged White House press secretary Jen Psaki on the claim but was met with typical White House spin.

Perhaps what’s even more incredible is the fact that the tweet, which likely had to be approved by a number of people or departments, was actually given the green light to be published. Though they’ll never admit it, it’s not a stretch to presume that after the horrific feedback, in hindsight, they have to know that tweeting such an asinine statistic probably wasn’t the smartest move.
