President Joe Biden continued his tradition of evading questions from the media this week.
After delivering remarks on Thursday, Biden turned his back and walked away without addressing any of the questions being asked by reporters at the White House.
Troubling trend emerges
Many of the president’s critics have already noted his pattern of turning and walking away instead of engaging with members of the press.

In fact, he made a similar exit following an address just one day earlier.

His tendency to stick to a rigid pattern of delivering scripted remarks and walking out on the press has contributed to a growing belief that he might not be mentally stable. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who previously served as the White House physician, is calling on Biden to take a cognitive test similar to the one he administered to previous President Donald Trump.
“Turns his back on America”
Although it might be happening more frequently, the pattern is nothing new for Biden. When addressing the chaotic troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, he ended his remarks with the familiar dismissal of reporters’ questions.

Biden’s handlers appear to be instructing him to refuse questions, in part to limit the number of gaffes or misstatements he makes in unscripted public remarks. Nevertheless, he has already provided critics with several video clips in which off-the-cuff statements go awry.
Of course, the president’s pattern of ignoring tough questions predates his administration. During the presidential campaign, he gained a reputation as a nearly invisible candidate who rarely left his home.
As president, he is following a similar path by communicating as little as necessary and effectively dismissing questions from reporters. Whether the strategy is meant to protect Biden from himself or not, it is sure to alarm those Americans who are already worried about his mental fitness.
