White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that Susan Rice is leading the Biden administration’s response to gun control, leaving out Vice President Kamala Harris.
Jean-Pierre downplayed that President Joe Biden was leaving Harris out of the response following a mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that killed 19 children and two teachers.
Not even hiding it.

Decades of experience
“We have a whole-of-government approach … that Ambassador Susan Rice is leading, along with other departments,” Jean-Pierre said.
“She has decades of experience coordinating interagency processes in the federal government,” Biden’s press secretary said. “There’s no one better at bringing department heads to the table to drive the process.”
.@PressSec indicates Biden won’t tap VP Kamala Harris to be point person on gun violence, like Obama tapped him

Rice has already taken to Twitter to begin pushing for new gun control changes.
“Our hearts ache for Uvalde. These sickening massacres cannot go on. Congress, it’s past time to act!!” she wrote.

Reporters asked the press secretary why Biden hasn’t done more about gun control. She said he needs Congress to work together to act.

“This president has done more via executive actions than any other president during the first year of office,” Jean-Pierre said.
While that may be true, resorting to executive actions for all actions is not a positive move.
