President Joe Biden is receiving widespread criticism for a demagogic speech he delivered on Thursday in which he denigrated millions of Americans for refusing a COVID-19 vaccine.
After repeatedly vowing to serve as a unifying force, the president has now resorted to attacking 80 million of his fellow citizens, claiming in his speech they have been “blocking public health” and are responsible for the recent surge in the COVID-19 infection rate, according to Breitbart.
“Pandemic of the unvaccinated”
Speaking Thursday, Biden asserted the perceived authority to begin requiring vaccinations for employees at private companies with more than 100 workers. He claimed that the dramatic action was necessary because of a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
Adopting a deeply divisive tone, the president insisted that unvaccinated Americans are “causing a lot of damage” and vowed that he will “combat those blocking public health.”
Biden also reportedly expressed solidarity with Americans who feel “anger at those who haven’t gotten vaccinated,” warning that “our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us.”
Still, the president denied that his decree is a matter of “freedom or personal choice.” He declared that the vaccine is safe and effective and his priority is to “protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated coworkers.”
He also vowed to oppose GOP governors who stand in the way of his mandates, getting them “out of the way” of his vaccine agenda.
“Mass civil disobedience”
Despite his divisive rhetoric, Biden ended the speech with an appeal to unity, asserting: “Look, we’re the United States of America. There’s nothing, not a single thing we’re unable to do if we do it together.”
Author J.D. Vance, a Republican currently running for U.S. Senate in Ohio, reacted to the remarks by calling Biden a “disgusting, vile man” who is “talking about tens of millions of American citizens like they’re vermin,” as Breitbart reported.
In response to the president’s “morally reprehensible” order, Vance advocated “mass civil disobedience.”
He ended his scathing rebuke by declaring that Biden has “revealed himself to be nothing more than a geriatric tyrant.”
If there were any doubt remaining, the president’s latest remarks demonizing unvaccinated Americans should put to rest the notion that he is a unifying force attempting to heal the nation. In fact, he seems to be ripping America further apart.
