President Joe Biden continued his attack Monday on Americans who choose not to be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
Fox News reports President Biden as saying that unvaccinated Americans “will end up paying the price.”
Biden’s comments came during a coronavirus update that he gave at the White House on Monday. In those comments, Biden noted that “deaths are down from COVID by 81 percent,” which Biden said was the “lowest level since April of 2020.”
Biden continued, however, by stating that he can’t promise that this trend will continue, and that’s when he turned his attention toward the unvaccinated.
“We know there will be advances and setbacks and we know that many flareups could occur,” Biden said. “But if the unvaccinated get vaccinated, they’ll protect themselves and other unvaccinated people around them. If they do not, states with low vaccination rates may see those rates, may see this progress, reversed.”
“Ultimately,” Biden added, “those who are not vaccinated will end up paying the price. The vaccinated will continue to be protected against severe illnesses, but others may not be if you’re not vaccinated.”
Last week, President Biden had an ultimatum for Americans: either get vaccinated or continue wearing a facemask.
“The rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do. The choice is yours,” Biden tweeted.
Biden posted this message on Twitter as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its coronavirus guidance advising that fully vaccinated Americans, that is, Americans who have received both doses of a coronavirus vaccine at least two weeks ago, can go maskless.
“Big news from the CDC: If you’re fully vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask — indoors or outdoors, in most settings,” the agency announced. “We’ve gotten this far. Whether you choose to get vaccinated or wear a mask, please protect yourself until we get to the finish line.”
What remains to be seen is whether government, whether it be federal or state government, will try to enforce such a rule as the one suggested by Biden.
Biden revealed on Monday that, currently, about 60 percent of Americans have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
