Biden’s approval ratings plummet following botched Afghanistan departure

Fifty-six percent of Americans disapprove of the direction of the country eight months into President Joe Biden’s term, according to a Fox News poll.

The poll found Americans increasingly concerned with the country’s direction and its lack of unity, which is ironic given that Biden ran on a unity ticket in order to defeat former President Donald Trump.

What unity?

Those who responded to the poll indicated that they believe the nation is less united under Biden by a 54%–37% margin.

Biden ran on a platform of united and bipartisanship during his 2020 campaign. However, unity is certainly not an area in which Americans believe the country is improving.

Instead, the poll offered evidence of a wide variety of concerns since Biden has taken office.

Other Biden concerns

“About half of voters also say Biden has the mental soundness to serve effectively as president (49%, unchanged from 2020) and is honest and trustworthy (50%, down 2 points),” according to the shocking report.

The report added: “Biden garners his best job rating for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic: 55% approve, while 44%t disapprove. That’s mostly unchanged from August (54-42%), but down from 64-34% in June.”

According to the New York Post, among some of the top concerns, “82% said inflation and higher prices, 74% said the COVID pandemic, 73% said the situation in Afghanistan, 72% said unemployment, 70% said attacks by Islamic and domestic terrorists in the US, 63% said climate change, 62% said abortion policies, 59% said illegal immigration and 50% said crime in their neighborhoods.”

Afghanistan didn’t help

It appears as if the failed and humiliating Afghanistan exit ranks among one of the top concerns American voters have with Biden, alongside inflation, higher prices, and COVID-19.

The ratings certainly don’t look good for Biden’s unity promise or for his overall ratings. To make matters worse, the president was reportedly vacationing over the weekend while some Americans remain stranded in Afghanistan and 15,000 migrants gathered under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, as the Texas Tribune reported.
