Acting CBP chief warns of Joe Biden’s ‘open border strategy’: ‘Mark my words’

Joe Biden repeatedly vowed throughout his 2020 White House campaign to reverse President Donald Trump’s decidedly America-first immigration policies — and according to The Washington Post, that includes putting a halt on the construction of a new-and-improved wall at the U.S.–Mexico border.

Now, acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan is warning that such a strategy from the Democrat would be disastrous, and costly, for Americans.

Biden’s big plans

According to Breitbart, Morgan’s remarks came on Wednesday’s episode of Fox & Friends, where the acting CBP chief was asked by host Steve Doocy to weigh in on Biden’s plans in terms of immigration and border security.

“Right now,” Morgan said, “if you look at what the Biden administration’s policies are going to be, it’s not just about stopping the construction of the border wall — it’s about providing amnesty to millions of people.”

The former vice president’s campaign website indeed includes promises to “welcome immigrants in our communities” and “reassert America’s commitment to asylum-seekers and refugees.” In addition, Biden’s 2020 running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris (D), has made clear that amnesty is an option for the millions of undocumented immigrants already living within America’s borders, as Breitbart notes.

“Mark my words”

Speaking Wednesday, Morgan said, “That is not an immigration strategy, mark my words. That is an open border strategy.”

The acting CBP head also said “the cartels and human smugglers” can “already see that loud and clear.”

“With a change in administrations, our borders are going to be wide open,” he lamented, according to Breitbart. “It is absolutely increasing illegal immigration, right today.”

Reacting to a prompt from Doocy, Morgan also said it is “very disturbing” that Biden may go beyond simply halting construction of the border wall to actually tearing down fencing that has already been built, something the CBP chief said would cost “billions” in canceled contracts, as Breitbart noted.

“Another crisis on our border”

Unfortunately, because much of Trump’s accomplishments with regard to the border and immigration policy were achieved through executive order, there’s little that can be done to stop a Biden administration from undoing the last four years of progress.

“If he does that, I’m predicting right here, on this show, if they do what they promise they’re going to do…you will see another crisis on our border, and it will pale in comparison to what we saw last year,” Morgan warned Wednesday, according to Breitbart. Take a look:
