Former President Bill Clinton’s fellow Democrats will not be too happy with him.
Breitbart News reports that Clinton just admitted what other Democrats refuse to admit, namely, that “there is a limit” to how much illegal immigration the United States can take before the situation becomes a huge disaster.
He really said it
Clinton’s admission came during a recent appearance on CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS podcast. There, at one point, Zakaria appeared to give some ground to Republicans, saying:
I think it’s fair to say that the asylum system seems to be broken. This was meant to be a system that allowed people who were in desperate circumstances, and now what you have is a lot of people who are essentially economic migrants coming in, essentially gaming the system, using the asylum way to get in.
Zakaria, accordingly, asked Clinton: “Isn’t it — isn’t it true that there has to be some order placed on this, some control on this?”
“I agree with that,” Clinton, surprisingly, replied. “There is a limit to how many migrants any society can take without severe disruption and assistance. And our system is based much more on an assumption that things would be more normal.”
Clinton went on to back his statement up with examples.
Hillary’s said so too!
It wasn’t too long ago that Clinton’s wife, Hillary Clinton, also made a statement that is at odds with the left’s open border agenda. It came a couple of weeks ago during an appearance Hillary Clinton made on MSNBC to discuss the flying of illegal immigrants from Florida to Martha’s Vineyard.
There, Clinton, at one point, said, “nobody wants open borders who has any idea of how government and countries work.”
The Clintons aren’t the only Democrats who have recently made such statements either.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), for example, just went so far as to say such things as, “we have a responsibility to secure our border,” and, “I believe that we have to have a secure border.”
What’s going on?
The answer is easy because, when it comes to the Democrats, it’s always the same: power. The Democrats want power.
It’s really that simple. It’s election time, Democrats have been getting hammered on such issues as the southern border crisis, and so, they are publicly softening their open border position. Make no mistake about it, though, they will continue to push for open border policies as they have always done.
