Bill Gates funded an anti-Elon Musk campaign: Report

According to a new report from Breitbart News, Bill Gates is one of the driving forces behind the push to have Twitter advertisers boycott the company if Elon Musk acquires it and turns it into a free speech zone.

In case you missed it, last month 26 organizations signed a letter urging Twitter advertisers to boycott the company if Musk acquires it.

They claimed, among other things, that “Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter will further toxify our information ecosystem and be a direct threat to public safety, especially among those already most vulnerable and marginalized.”

“Sunlight is the best disinfectant”

Musk, in response, called for an investigation of who was behind the letter. “Let’s investigate,” he wrote, adding, “sunlight is the best disinfectant.”

It was quickly determined that the usual suspects were behind many of the groups who signed on to the letter. This includes the likes of George Soros, the Clintons, and even the European Union.

But, Gates’ involvement wasn’t discovered until just now.

Hundreds of millions of dollars

Breitbart News has identified “hundreds of millions of dollars flowing from Bill Gates’ foundation to 11 of the 26 organizations that signed an open letter.”

Breitbart reports that it has “analyzed public filings to trace hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions from the letter signatories back to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.”

The money was traced from the Gates Foundation to intermediaries to 11 of the organizations that signed on to the letter. The organizations include The Center for Media Justice, The Media Democracy Fund, The National Hispanic Media Coalition, Accountable Tech, Free press, Indivisible, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Media Matters, Black Lives Matter Global Network, Empowering Pacific Islanders Community, and Reproaction.

Why Gates did it:

The answer is likely a simple one: Gates is against the free speech vision that Musk has for Twitter.

As Breitbart reports: “Gates is also an outspoken censorship proponent, frequently calling on tech companies to do more to stop ‘health misinformation’ spreading online. Musk threatens to reverse Gates’ strongly desired censorship policies — and now faces the wrath of Gates-funded NGOs.”

Musk and Gates have yet to respond to this new report from Breitbart.
