Bill Maher denounces left’s ‘conspiracy’ to get rid of Trump

Liberal comedian Bill Maher is, once again, speaking out against his fellow Democrats.

Fox News reports that this time, Maher rebuked the left — particularly Big Tech, the mainstream media, and others — for engaging in “a conspiracy to get rid of” former President Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Maher, here, was referring to the fact that, heading into the 2020 presidential election, the powers that be buried the Hunter Biden laptop story in order to ensure that the story didn’t negatively impact then-candidate Joe Biden heading into the 2020 election.

The reader may remember that Big Tech, including Facebook and Twitter, took action to prevent the dissemination of the story, and the mainstream media refused to even cover it, claiming it was nothing more than a piece of Russian propaganda.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the FBI actually approached Facebook ahead of the 2020 election in order to warn it that there was about to be a “dump” of “Russian propaganda.” Zuckerberg, though, refused to say whether the FBI was referring specifically to the Hunter Biden laptop story.

But, theHunter Biden laptop story is still being talked about to this day, especially because the mainstream media recently began to admit that it is not Russian propaganda. This has led to questions about how the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story may have impacted the outcome of the 2020 election.

Some, including well-known atheist Sam Harris, have argued that the suppression of the story was justified in order to get rid of Trump. Maher, however, seems to disagree.

“A conspiracy”

Maher discussed the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story during Friday’s broadcast of his HBO show Real Time. There, he began by asking, “Is it okay to have a conspiracy to get rid of Trump?”

Maher continued:

Now look, let’s not pussyfoot around this; [Hunter Biden] was selling the influence of his father, Joe Biden. I mean, most political sons do, but let’s not pretend at least that was going on…  so Hunter Biden’s laptop was buried by the press. Even the head of Twitter Jack Dorsey said that was a mistake… So Sam Harris says it was appropriate for Twitter, and the heads of Big Tech, and the heads of journalistic organizations to feel that they were in the presence of something that is a once-in-a-lifetime moral emergency, meaning Trump. So he’s saying it’s okay to have a conspiracy, to get rid of somebody as bad as Trump.

After some back and forth with his guests, Maher said straight up that Big Tech, the mainstream media, etc. buried the Hunter Biden laptop story.

“He’s saying that’s what they did, and that is what they did,” Maher said. “They buried the Hunter Biden story before the election because they were like, we can’t risk having the election thrown to Trump, we’ll tell them after the election.”

Maher never did opine as to whether this was right or wrong. His tone would suggest that he thinks it is wrong. But, at least he admitted that Hunter Biden was selling the influence of his father and that there was an active conspiracy to prevent Trump from being reelected. Those are two big steps in the right direction.
