Conservative radio host Dan Bongino reveals tumor diagnosis

Conservative political commentator Dan Bongino revealed on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with a tumor on his neck and is currently seeking treatment.

Bongino is the host of the Dan Bongino Show, a political commentary podcast, and is a frequent guest on Fox News.

Scary discovery

Bongino revealed that he first began suspecting there was something wrong when several supporters messaged him expressing concern about an apparent growth on his neck over the course of several weeks.

The 45-year-old told viewers during his Wednesday show that he initially dismissed the comments, but became concerned after the comments persisted.

After seeking the counsel of a family friend that was a doctor, Bongino got an MRI to find out if the concerns were valid and found the tumor, though he explained that doctors believe it may not be cancerous.

“It’s really hard for me to talk about this because I just learned this yesterday,” Bongino explained. “The good news is … there’s a strong likelihood that it is not, in fact, cancerous.”

“We don’t know what it is,” he admitted. “It’s in a very weird spot on my neck, near my carotid artery, near my vocal cords and things, and it is big; it’s seven centimeters head to caboose and front to back.”

He continued to explain that the exact nature of the growth is still unknown but that it has “grown pretty quick” and doctors have already found “another growth” elsewhere that is “a bit concerning.”

“It’s scary. I debated telling you all this, but again, I’ve received several emails from people who are starting to notice it now,” Bongino remarked.

Looking ahead

Bongino is a former Secret Service agent that served in the George W. Bush and Obama administrations before retiring from the service in 2011 in order to run for U.S. Senate.

After an unsuccessful bid for a Maryland senate seat in 2012, Bongino ran for a U.S. House of Representatives seat in 2014 and 2016, both unsuccessfully. He now runs a highly successful political commentary radio show and has released several books about his time in the White House.

The commentary star said thanked his fans for their continued support throughout the process and expressed optimism about his prognosis. Bongino is flying to New York on Friday for further testing.
