Border Patrol agent killed in line of duty

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz released a statement earlier in the week saying that Anibal “Tony” A. Perez died on Nov. 5 in the line of duty.

Fox News reported that Perex’s specific cause of death was withheld because of privacy concerns, but that Perexjoined Customs and Border Patrol in 2006.

While it’s unclear what exactly the cause of death was, beyond knowing that the cause of death occurred while Perez was in the line of duty.

The part that CBP plays in protecting the southern states from completely unfettered immigration is a duty that those in the south do not take lightly.

To honor Perez’s sacrifice the Governor, Greg Ducy, order that the flags at the capitol building be lowered to half-mast on Saturday

Perez is survived by his wife, three children, parents, and sister.

Border patrol agents’ jobs are more dangerous and more important than ever as the border crossings not only increase, but the people crossing become more suspect.

According to a report by Fox, on Friday alone, border patrol agents intercepted four members of the violent street gang MS-13 attempting to enter the United States during a 14-hour span.

The same day in the Rio Grande Valley sector there were almost 2,000 migrants that attempted to enter the United States during the 24-hour period of Friday.

The publication estimates that 262 of those migrants got through and into the United States due strictly to a lack of manpower on the part of border patrol.

“A Department of Homeland Security source told Fox News that there were 1,909 encounters with illegal migrants in the sector. Meanwhile, there were 262 ‘getaways’ — in which agents saw crossers on cameras or sensors but don’t have the manpower to get to. It means there could be even more illegal migrants getting past agents who were undetected.”
