Border Patrol apprehends sex offenders, gang members amid ongoing migrant influx

As President Joe Biden’s open border policies show no signs of slowing, the influx of migrants – including heinous sex offenders – continues apace, as evidenced by the recent apprehension of several such criminals in Texas, as Fox News reports.

The arrests were announced in a press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) and were said to have occurred in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

Apprehensions announced

A CPB press release detailed the recent apprehensions of five convicted sex offenders and over 20 gang members, the backgrounds of which illuminate the dangerous nature of many individuals currently entering the country.

In late July, Manuel Ramirez of Honduras was taken into custody by agents with the Falfurrias Border Patrol Station, and it was back in 2017 that he was sentenced to four years imprisonment for first-degree attempted rape.

Just days later, agents from the same station completed the processing of an MS-13 gang member from El Salvador whose criminal past includes a five-year sentence in Virginia for carnal knowledge of a child.

On July 31, a Mexican migrant was apprehended by agents from the McAllen Border Patrol Station, and his criminal history included a California conviction on charges of lewd/lascivious acts with a child.

Other similar apprehension made during the first part of August included other sex offenders hailing from El Salvador, Peru, and Honduras, in addition to numerous gang members with drug convictions.

Crisis continues

As Fox News noted, Border Patrol agents have arrested over 8,300 illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds in this fiscal year alone, and that tally includes 248 with convictions of a sexual nature.

While, as the outlet added, those numbers constitute a relatively small portion of the nearly 200,000 apprehensions notched on a monthly basis, the figure does not take into account the potentially criminal element contained within the approximately 500,000 additional migrants who have escaped capture.

Though the Biden administration continues to turn a blind eye – perhaps intentionally – to the crisis at the border, as evidenced by its lifting of the successful Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy, Republican leaders along the southern border have pledged to take matters into their own hands as much as possible.

Just last week, Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order directing state agencies to promptly begin work filling gaps in the Yuma border wall, citing the president’s failure to act and protect local communities and American citizens negatively impacted by unchecked illegal immigration.

“Arizona has had enough. We can’t wait any longer. The Biden administration’s lack of urgency on border security is a dereliction of duty,” Ducey said in a press release, giving voice to the sentiments of millions who are fed up with the blatant lawlessness encouraged and facilitated by Democrats.
