California Democrat Judy Chu arrest at Capitol over pro-choice protest

California Democratic Rep. Judy Chu was arrested at a pro-choice protest near the Supreme Court and Capitol Building on Thursday.

Police arrested 181 people after protesters refused to stop blocking the area after multiple warnings.

The statement

“The decision to march today was easy—I came out to march for the young rape survivor, the woman who cannot afford to travel to another state to access critical care, the mother with an ectopic pregnancy whose life is in danger,” Chu tweeted after her arrest.

“I came out to march for all of us,” she added.

The protest

“Proud to join activists and community leaders today to say loud and clear – we WON’T back down. We will NOT go back,” she added in a post during the event.

Chu called the arrest an “honor” on social media following the protest.

“It was an honor to be arrested alongside these young women who are fighting tirelessly to protect our right to abortion. It’s going to take all of us, but we will prevail!” she tweeted.

She may believe it’s an honor to be arrested, but it doesn’t change the court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade in a major win for the lives of future Americans.
