California will soon become the first state in the U.S. to provide taxpayer-funded health insurance for all illegal immigrants.
The gracious oligarchs who run the once-paradisal Golden State have decreed that taxpayers must shell out more than $2 billion to cover at least 700,000 foreign nationals, according to reports.
California to provide health insurance for illegals
The state’s health insurance program for poor residents, Medi-Cal, has been expanded in steps since 2015 to include the state’s significant illegal population.
Democrat governor Gavin Newsom’s new budget would expand the program further to cover all illegal immigrants no later than 2024. Adding insult to injury, Newsom said the budget “addresses the state’s most pressing needs, and prioritizes getting dollars back into the pockets of millions of Californians.”
Newsom’s move was cheered by his party allies and immigrant interest groups.
“This historic investment speaks to California’s commitment to health care as a human right,” said Democratic state Senator María Elena Durazo.
Sarah Dar, director of Health and Public Benefits Policy at the California Immigrant Policy Center, said Newsom’s policy “should be a model for the rest of the nation.”
Dems reject U.S. sovereignty
The number of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. is commonly estimated to be 11 million, but exact figures are uncertain. Under the Biden administration, illegal immigration has reached unprecedented highs, ensuring that the burden on American taxpayers will continue to grow.
Of course, giving away government benefits to illegal immigrants will just incentivize more illegal immigration. Colorado is following California’s lead in allowing illegal immigrants to receive government benefits, Axios reported.
Democrats used to pay lip service to border security, but in recent years they have embraced a de facto open borders agenda that treats illegal immigrants like American citizens, with all of the rights and benefits that status entails…especially voting.
In New York, Democrats recently tried to open up voting to non-citizens before a judge stopped the scheme.
While his state no longer recognizes the American people as sovereign, Newsom, who is rumored to be running for president in 2024, portrayed California as a haven of freedom in a recent attack ad against Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) — who fired back at Newsom for treating Californians “like peasants.”
